Oberon and Puck

OBERON

Welcome, wanderer! Hast thou the flower there?
( Puck gives Oberon the flower ...)

I know a bank where the wild thme blows,
Where Oxlips and the nodding Violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious Woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with Eglantine;
There sleeps Tytania, sometime of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers, with dances and delight:
And there the snake throws her
enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a Fairy in.
And with the juice of this I'll streak her eyes,
And make her full of hateful fentasies.

Benvenuto, giramondo! Hai con te il Fiore?
( Puck porge il fiore ad Oberon...)

So di una sponda ove fiorisce il timo selvaggio,
dove sboccia la primula e china il capo la violetta.
Là, sotto un leggiadro baldacchino di agrifoglio,
dolci rose muschiate, rose di macchia,
dorme Titania talvolta la notte,
cullata da quei fiori, fra danze e armonie.
E là abbandona la serpe la sua iridata spoglia,
ampia quanto basta per avvolgervi una fata.

Con questo succo cospargerò i suoi occhi
riempiendola di fantasie bizzarre.
